Seems that quite a few people like that Alwin de Quartel photo, it turned up in the Algemeen Dagblad Newspaper last week at an article on the Dutch Ski Champs. Came out as a very nice article and I was happy to see all these images used so nicely.
Last week featured a very cool article on freestyle snowboarding in the Dutch newspaper AD, with comments from boarders, editors, trainers and… me! It’s in Dutch so most people probably can’t read it but all photo’s (except my portrait which was done by Edo) are mine, the piece was very well written (as allways) by Hans Avontuur, one of my favorite (travel) writers in Holland.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of overnighting can be found near the Johannesburg Airport, little over twenty minutes North of the hectic and largest South African city is Pretoria, the legislative Capital. Before hitting that town, famous for its abundant Jacaranda Trees, in a hidden and very nice neighborhood you will find a Villa turned into a hotel for Kings, their website says it all and nothing of it is overstated. What an incredible place!
Click on āfull screenā for the high-res slideshow:
A magnificent villa with sweeping views across the treetops of the historical Jacaranda City. Set in tranquil gardens, teeming with birds, it is no wonder that Illyria is often referred to as a ālittle paradiseā.
Upon entering through the wrought iron gates, a fairytale ambience, reflecting the epitome of gracious and romantic living unfolds, complete with white gloved butlers discreetly working their magic to please.
Unrivalled personalized service, exclusivity and luxury are a given at this intimate haven. Fine antiques, 17th century tapestries, soft classical music and exquisite cuisine have contributed to Illyriaās standing as a sought-after oasis of tranquility, refined beauty and charm.
It comes as no surprise that Illyria House has become a destination in its own right, a unique, nostalgic, colonial experience, highly appreciated by the discerning traveler, and the secret retreat of royalty, heads of state and celebrities alike.
Services rendered by your personal butler include organizing historical tours, sports activities, country picnics, individualized shopping outings and transfers to attractions in the city and surrounding areas. Guests may enjoy beauty treatments in the magical wellness spa in the secret garden or in the privacy of their rooms.
Secluded yet centrally located, a stay at Illyria House is ideal in combination with a luxury rail journey, wildlife safari or Indian Ocean island resort, and holds the promise to add an unforgettable authentic experience in colonial African hospitality.
Welcome to the redesigned Fotograferen.net!
I’m still busy working on the site but as 90% of it is running smoothly I decided to open it a bit earlier than planned and keep working on it in the meanwhile. Please let me know if anything is wrong, I’ll try to get it sorted a.s.a.p.
For the lovers of the old website, it’s still online here.
The past few weeks, between changing diapers and cuddling the little one, I’ve been working hard to get my latest project off the ground in the Netherlands: Large size canvas prints for kid-rooms. I’ve setup a website for all of this: KINDERKAMER.WS
I’ve gone through all of my zillions of photo’s from the past few years and managed to filter out all the animal ones. Put them together in a large folder, did a bit of hussling and threw them onto canvasses.
So, let me know if you like them or not. My contact details are in the right column, any good ideas or suggestions are more than welcome! The ordering system should be online now within days. Let’s see if this will work!
This months Duikmagazine opens with a 10-page article on my favorite diving destination, the Barkley Sound [open in Google Earth] in Vancouver Island. The place where you can finde the Dutch/Canadian operator Rendezvous Diving, one of the best places ever!
