A three-day visit to an island which is ten hours by plane and a couple hours in jetlag. Crazy? Not really, considering I was there to photograph the famous Caribbean Carnaval on the tiny Dutch Antilles island of Aruba. It’s the second-largest carnaval celebration in the whole caribbean and famous for its laid-back atmosphere and accessibility.
And boy was it worth the trip! Two days of sunny and happy people parading the streets of both major towns on the island: the very easy-goinh parade on Saturday in San-Nicolas and the massive and crowded Sunday main event in Oranjestad. Hours and hours of incredibly colorful people and costumes. I don’t think I’ve seen so many feathers. I guess the images speak for themselves, please enjoy and make sure you’re in the neighborhood next year!

As a proud dad of a gloriously happy little girl I end up taking zillions and zillions of photo’s. Just recently the whole family moved over to Curaçao for a decent relaxation and a tiny bit of underwaterwork. I decided to post images from our girl more recent on my Flickr account and a few favorite ones on the website. Please enjoy, I hope she makes you smile!
Another year, another great party in the Swiss Alps. As usual, Laax was host to the Dutch Championships Snowboarding 2.0: Snowfest. A new name for the same good ol’ fun: boarding, parties, the occasional rail, contests and some more pratying to top things up.

Just had to upload these two quickly, taken from the infamous Unox Nieuwjaarsduik 2010 (click here for 2008 and 2009). This year turned out the best from the three tries I’ve done so far in making these images with my drysuit and underwater camera. More shots later today or enjoy me at work (20:21) in this item at the main RTL4 News for January 1st.
