While enjoying the beach in Zeeland with our friends Bell & Britt, our two year old daughter Sacha started fooling around in the large tidal pool looking for shrimp, starfish and crabs. I jumped for my camera and got as a low position as possible to get these two enjoying the lot.
To give the photo a warmer feel I used the internal flash (on this Canon Powershot G9) with an Av set at f5 and an exposure of -2/3 of a stop. Later on I found out the flash made the water reflect on their faces giving it an ever nicer feel. Shot quite a few images before Sacha actually pointed at the water, the shot I was hoping for.
This picture is also in a Dutch Water Photo Contest, please click the "thumbs up" if you enjoy the photo and would like to help me out.
Ten years of Q-Dance, “representing the harder styles in dance music”, had to be celebrated by a massive party. And fully-blown it was, a fully decorated ArenA stadium in Amsterdam was the venue for this absolutely insane partynight. Hot, humid and loooooud!

Just a day before becoming a father again I had an hour or two available to photograph the Delta LLoyd North Sea Regatta 2010 in Scheveningen. Just tried to stick to doing some nice imagery with a focus on the Delta LLoyd logos and not spending too of my not-so-good-concentration on the surrounding events (there was a really nice jazzy show in the evening). Here’s just a few images that I liked taking in the poor weather, but in the end the fog just added to the atmosphere and gave the images a sligthly surreal feeling.

View from 25 meters high in the RTL Netherlands television crane at the back of the Radio538 Koninginnedag concert area. Koninginnedag (or Queensday) is basically the biggest yearly national party in the Netherlands and the Radio538 hosts a large free festival in Amsterdam which about 200.000 people attend during the course of the day.
The panorama is a stitch of several Canon 5DmkII images to make it one 25 megapixel super panorama. Watch out for more to come.

A three-day visit to an island which is ten hours by plane and a couple hours in jetlag. Crazy? Not really, considering I was there to photograph the famous Caribbean Carnaval on the tiny Dutch Antilles island of Aruba. It’s the second-largest carnaval celebration in the whole caribbean and famous for its laid-back atmosphere and accessibility.
And boy was it worth the trip! Two days of sunny and happy people parading the streets of both major towns on the island: the very easy-goinh parade on Saturday in San-Nicolas and the massive and crowded Sunday main event in Oranjestad. Hours and hours of incredibly colorful people and costumes. I don’t think I’ve seen so many feathers. I guess the images speak for themselves, please enjoy and make sure you’re in the neighborhood next year!
