Tomorrowland 2008 – Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift, Tomorrow is Mystery. Perhaps Yesterday was Hot, Today is Hotter and Tomorrow it’s raining would have been better. My god it was incredibly hot on Sunday. Glad I brought some SPF30 sunscreen, I would have been burnt to a crisp I’m afraid. I would say it was too hot too dance, people were chilling out mostly until the sun set, then the party really stared, mostly at the mainstage.

A big thanks goes out to ID&T Belgium and Heineken who let me in their heli for some areal views. Boy I love flying!

Hot, hot, hot

Hot, hot, hot

And into the night things stayed dry, barely. Can’t believe the thunderstorm we drove through on the way back home. It was like being in a Hollywood movie: som much lightning it was almost fake…

Yes, yes, yes it’s party-season time so my log is stuffed with event images for a while. This weekend was ID&T’s Tomorrowland in Belgium, based on the very succesful Dutch Mysteryland series. De Schorre, a recreational area, just seems to be made for this sort of thing: lot’s of water, hills and plenty of green to give it a good atmosphere.

Saturday started out with a somwewhat smaller area (funny thing: in Holland Saturday would be the busiest day I guess) but it was just nicely packed and I just really enjoyed the feeling. I guess Belgium people are just a bit more relaxed and don’t pull on you arms all the time shouting “photo, photo!”. And, if for some reason, somebody does ask for a picture to be taken (politely ofcourse), it’s most often good-looking peeps. I like that!

Hooray, my 50th post since my new website went online this January! And a special one as well: a 360 degree panorama (Quicktime VR or QTVR) taken from the centre of the stage. Because of all the shows with water (you can see the reflection on the black catwalk) I was only able to do it very late at night when they had a non-water bit which was long enough for me to take the necessary images (a lot). The light coming through the roof spoils it a little bit but it still gives you a nice idea.

Images from Saturdays 2008 edition of Sensation White with Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Marco V, MC Gee, Tocadisco, Fedde le Gand and Felix da Housecat. I was stuck on the roof for two hours (thank you liftlady, NOT!) photographing everything from 60 meters above, therefore I missed two DJ’s.

Sensation Wallpapers 2008 coming later this week (sorry, it’s extremely busy).

While I’m in Scotland enjoying a four day holiday-slash-little-work-thing I couldn’t resist quickly uploading a good selection of the Koniginnedagconcert photo’s from the Museumplein in Amsterdam. This was the fifth or sixth time I photographed this fun event for organizers Radio538, the largest Radiostation in the Netherlands. About 100.000 people visit the concert, the largest one for Queensday.

Radio538 jock Jens timmermans in the on-stage studio.

Father & Friend : Alain Clarke with his dad Dane.

David Guetta, one of the best closing acts for this event ever.

Oh what a night! After three continuous weeks of shooting all over European Alps with a broken arm (and not to mention doing Trance Energy as well) it was time for the last one of this very busy month. But what a great way to finish a shooting spree.
Bacardi and Rotterdam mix perfectly with Benny Rodrigues creating a fantastic line-up with the likes of: Leroy Styles, Version & Atjazz Ft Emilie Chick (aka Charles Webster), Rolando, Prunk Le Funk , The Freshest Kidz, Civil and himself ofcourse.

Great atmosphere, great people, perfect music made for one of the better editions of this already great Bacardi series. Check the full gallery here.

Now online: the completely sold out 15th edition of ID&T’s Trance Energy 2008 at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. 30.000 partygoers saw the laser, light and music effects and techniques with major artists such as TiĆ«sto, Ferry Corsten and Marco V (mainstage). In the club stage we found Jean, Roy Gates, but also Marcel Woods, Ernesto vs. Bastian and Rank1. The future stage accomodated Sean Tyan and Airbase.
