Queensday 2010 Museumplein view in 25 Megapixel!

View from 25 meters high in the RTL Netherlands television crane at the back of the Radio538 Koninginnedag concert area. Koninginnedag (or Queensday) is basically the biggest yearly national party in the Netherlands and the Radio538 hosts a large free festival in Amsterdam which about 200.000 people attend during the course of the day.

The panorama is a stitch of several Canon 5DmkII images to make it one 25 megapixel super panorama. Watch out for more to come.

Small preview of the photos yet to come….

The plazas of Barcelona, full gallery.

Just a lot of photo’s to enjoy from the “Plazas of Barcelona” article for ANWB Reizen magazine. Full gallery here or start the slideshow.

Placa Catalunya
Placa Catalunya, the massive square in downtown Barcelona. Filled with shoppers, people on their way from and to work and zillions of pigeons and touristst feeding them.

Placa de St. Maria del Mar
This has got to be my favorite square in the town: St. Maria del Mar. The church is amazing but the square is empty and boring… that is: until a wedding starts and usually one doesn’t have to wait long for that to happen.

The market of Santa Catarina
The market of Santa Catarina is built on the old ruins of a monastery of XIII century and is a great place for photo’s like this couple having lunch.

Placa de St. Maria del Mar
The Parade del Gigantes also starts and finishes at this amazing Placa de St. Maria del Mar, famous for it’s Church and plentyful weddings.

Placa Virreine
Placa Virreine is a good place to chill and get some coffee as these elder people show.

The ten best squares of Barcelona

ANWB REIZEN, The squares of Barcelona. Pages 1&2.

In the June issue of ANWB REIZEN (Travel) a ten-page article on the best squares of Barcelona with some nice blow-up images. The opening spread is one of my favorite images from last year, one thet I really had to crawl into the crowd to get: the wedding ceremony with all the rice. Next week I hope to find some time to upload all the images from this shoot, one of my favorite ones by far as I really tried to get up close and personal with my subjects.

Queensday Concert 2009 with 2 Unlimited, DJ Jean & Tiesto

Nikki
Idols winner Nikki

One of the strangest days ever: April 30th 2009. What started out as a bright sunshiny happy day quickly turned into the sobering reality of somebody crazy enough to destroy innocent lives for a mindless attack on the royal family. Koninginnedag 2009 will forever be the one with a black lining. However, as one cannot send 150.000 people back home instantly: the show on the Museumplein simply just had to go on. A good show nonetheless but obviously most people lost a bit of their partymood (yours truly included)… A weird day indeed and therefore just a small gallery this time. Full series here (19 photo’s).

Ray & Anita (2 Unlimited)
Ray & Anita from 2 Unlimited, performing live again after 13 years!

DJ Jean
Lots of legs… who other than DJ Jean?

DJ Tiesto
The closing tunes of DJ Tiesto.

Respect for the artists that did perform and ofcourse respect for those who felt it was impossible for them.

Radio538 Queensday Concert 2008

While I’m in Scotland enjoying a four day holiday-slash-little-work-thing I couldn’t resist quickly uploading a good selection of the Koniginnedagconcert photo’s from the Museumplein in Amsterdam. This was the fifth or sixth time I photographed this fun event for organizers Radio538, the largest Radiostation in the Netherlands. About 100.000 people visit the concert, the largest one for Queensday.
